Just like every year, the Brigade road is all aglow to welcome revellers this New Year

Even as the terror scare returns to haunt the city, the Brigades Shops and Establishments Association at Brigade Road is leaving no stone unturned to celebrate and welcome the New Year. Normally, the road is decorated for Christmas, but this year it is being done for the New Year.

The road was illuminated using LED lights for the very first time, and MiD DAY was the first to capture this image. "The LED lights look better andu00a0 consume less power compared with normal lighting. We have been spending Rs 6 lakh for decorations, but this year, we have spent more than Rs 8 lakh," said Yusuf.

"We have just put on the lights, and the work is still going on. This time, we have given equal importance to security, and have made adequate arrangements. Like every year, we have installed CCTV monitors, to keep an eye on the revelry. We hope the new year's party will be as smooth as before without any hiccups," said Suhail Yusuff, secretary, Brigades Shops and Establishments Association.

"We decorate the road for Christmas every year, but this time, we were unable to do it because two of our executive committee members were not present," he added.

The business is also expected to be normal. Because of the Metro work last year, people had experienced some incon Last year the Metro work was going on at MG Road so there was some inconvenience but this year the work is almost getting completed and the roads are free.The Association members will have a meeting with police officials today with regard to security arrangements.
