We have a very good team and we have three years to achieve what we set out to do. We will strive hard as a team. We have got the posts and now we will have to work hard," said Kumble.

Great moment
Javagal Srinath said, "It's a fantastic experience and a great moment for us. I thank all the voters and life members who voted for us and made us victorious.

A new day will start for all of us when we wake up tomorrow. We have lots of responsibilities which we will have to carry out.

We will have to work towards improving facilities for life members, upgrading the clubhouse and much more."

All the members of the newly elected team promised that they would work as a unit for the next three years.

Team spirit
"Members have shown trust in our team and voted in favour of us. We will work hard for the next three years and make Karnataka a model for the country," said newly elected Vice President Venkatesh Prasad.

"I am happy for Kumble, Srinath and Prasad. It's time to see Karnataka prosper," said Prasad's co Vice-President Roger M Binny.

There was a tie between Merchant Cricket Club and Jawahar Sports Club in which Jawahar club was elected after picking lots.

Taking over
The newly elected team is expected to take over in a couple of days. The team members will meet at the KSCA this afternoon to decide on the next course of action.

Grandpa effect

>>Of the 1,489 votes eligible for the KSCA polls, 446 come from affiliated cricket club members that are based around Anil Kumble's ancestral home in Bangalore alone.
>>Kumble was promised all these votes during his campaign not because of his strides in cricket but because of his grandfather KN Swamy, who has taught a majority of these 446 voters.
>> Swamy was the school headmaster at Basavanagudi, where Kumble now resides.
>>A campaign manager for the Kumble group said, "He has been promised support given the fact that Kumble's grandfather had taught 90 per cent of the members in their childhood."
