The 74-year-old anti-corruption activist, Anna Hazare, finally made the government budge and the protest ended with a letter from the Prime Minister.

In the last 12 days, however, Anna's medical condition was deteriorating with each passing hour. Just after he broke his fast unto death, Anna was admitted in Medanta, Medicity hospital. Doctors said his condition was stable, but he will remain under close observation for at least two-three days.

"He is stable now and is improving. We are closely monitoring his condition because he has lost 7.5kg in a very short interval of time.

Though he is on recovery mode now, he still needs more medication," said Dr Naresh Trehan, chairperson and managing director, Medanta-Medicity.

Trehan, who was constantly monitoring Anna's condition during the fast, said, "He is sleeping a lot but there is no need to worry. All his vital organs are fine and we have put him on a liquid diet for at least 48 hours. Later, we will go for a few tests."

Anna's blood pressure is 110/70 and pulse rate is 94. Doctors say his blood pressure and heart beat is improving. He weighs 64.5 kg now.
