Anand Khatri (32) was posted in southwest unit of Special Cell in late 2015. The incident took place around 5 AM, when a Special Cell team went to Rohini's Sector 21 following a tip-off that Pandit, who is believed to be a close aide of southwest Delhi-based history-sheeter Ravindra Bholu, was hiding there, police said.
"During the operation, Khatri fired accidentally from his own AK 47 rifle and the bullet hit him. He was rushed to a hospital by the other members of the team, but his life could not be saved," Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Arvind Deep said.
Khatri's family was informed and his body was sent for a postmortem.
