Yavatmal: A police constable was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500 from a complainant, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said today.

A tailor was also apprehended for allegedly inciting the complainant to pay the bribe, they said. The accused constable - Ramesh Ganpatrao Dongare - attached to the Lohara police station had demanded bribe of Rs 2,500 from the complainant for not registering FIR against the friend of the complainant, Yavatmal ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police Satish Deshmukh said.
The tailor Vasudev Mankar had incited the complainant to pay the bribe to avoid the implication.
Following a complaint, a trap was laid last evening, and Dongare was arrested while accepting the bribe in Lohara, the officer said. The tailer has also been arrested the ACB for inciting the complaint to pay bribe, he said, adding investigations are underway.
