Officials at Tilak Nagar police station investigating the suicide case of 21-year-old Tejas, son of senior police inspector Arvind Sawant, questioned his female friend yesterday. Tejas shot himself with his father’s service revolver on Wednesday at his residence in Tilak Nagar, Chembur.

During the course of investigation, officials learnt that Tejas wanted to take admission in Dadar’s Kirti College, where his friend is studying. Tejas had completed his SY BSc from Ruparel College in Matunga. “His family members were opposed to it and asked him to continue studying in Ruparel College for another year and said he could switch later,” said a police officer from Tilak Nagar police station. However, Tejas was adamant and wanted admission in Kirti College starting this academic year and had even fought with his family members over this issue.

“We have registered an accidental death case and we are yet to take statement from his father Arvind, as he is still in shock after losing his only son. His statement will help us join the dots and close the case,” said the police officer from Tilak Nagar police station.

Several senior officials from crime branch reached Sawant’s residence after hearing the news of his son’s death. Tejas’ last rites were conducted late on Wednesday night after completing all formalities.u00a0
