P S Sudarshan, PI with the Commercial Street police station and his 37-year-old wife Shubha lived at Banashankari with their two sons Sreehari (10), a 6th standard student and Sreenivas (12) an 8th standard student.
Sudarshan had returned home from work and went to sleep when he was awakened by a gunshot. On rushing to the adjacent room, he and his children found Shubha sitting on a chair with his service pistol dangling in her right hand, bleeding profusely from her head.
Preliminary enquiriesu00a0 revealed that the couple used to fight frequently after Shubha recently underwent by-pass surgery.
According to the police, Shubha woke up during the night and took Sudarshan's 9 mm service pistol, went to the adjacent room and shot herself in the head.
Shubha and Sudharshan had been married for 12 years, but have been fighting frequently since the past few months.
Members of the family were shocked over her committing suicide despite recovering from her recent heart surgery. T Suneel Kumar, ACP (Law and Order) said that the ballistic experts from FSL have examined the spot and their report will throw some light on whether foul play is involved.
Police said that Shubha's family has not filed any complaint against Sudarshan. The post-mortem was conducted at KIMS hospital mortuary and the Banashankari police haveu00a0 registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating.
