Au00a0Railway police van that was carrying three convicts hit a biker yesterday evening at the Yerawada bridge. The police van was allegedly in rush. The injured person, who works with a company in the city, was on his way home when the accident happened.
Vinay Viswakarma (22), the biker who was hit by the police van, broke his jaw and suffered head injuries even though he was wearing a helmet. The policemen inside the van took the injured to the nearby Shah Accident Hospital and stayed there till the accident victim was attended to by doctors.
A doctor said, "The condition of Vinay was very bad when he was brought here as he was bleeding heavily. He has been admitted to the ICU with serious head injuries." The railway police informed the Yerwada police station about the accident and also called the relatives of the injured. The police van was from the Khadki railway police station.
