A racket conning young men out of their money, using as bait the chance to work as masseurs for an exclusive clientele of high-profile women, was busted by the police when one of the cheated people lodged a complaint at the Khadak police station

A couple, Rahul alias Fahad Sahid Hakim (22) and Bushra (20), of Bandra Reclamation, Mumbai, were caught in the case. "We think there is a bigger gang behind this. People from Delhi, Solapur and Ghaziabad may be involved," ACP Ranjit Dhure said. "Over 70 people may be part of it."

The Hakims would put out ads in English dailies seeking men who wanted to work as masseurs for women, take a few thousand rupees by way of membership fee from those who approached them, and then ignore subsequent attempts by the wannabe masseur to contact them.

The racket came to light when a man identified only as Deepak from the city fell into the trap.

The accused had published ads saying: "Required males for massaging hi-profile females. Earn & enjoy (25000) daily".

When Deepak contacted Rahul, he briefed Deepak on his plans for him and asked him to become a member of the Sangoon club for which he should deposit Rs 10,000. Deepak paid up, but after that whenever he contacted Rahul, he got the cold shoulder.

Deepak registered a case with the Khadak police station and Police Inspector Rajendra Kadam and his team raided the home and other hideouts of the Hakims and caught the accused in Bandra.
