Despite a ban, live bands in the city continue to do brisk business. The Koramangala police raided a multi-cuisine restaurant in Koramangala yesterday and caught eight live band artistes performing who were assisted by nine skimpily-clad girls dancing to the beats.
A team of officials led by Inspector G Nagraj raided the Coastal Pavilion multi cuisine restaurant around 9.30 pm yesterday and also arrested the nine girls who were allegedly serving liquor to patrons.
The accused Pooja Shinde, Daisy, Neha, Priya, Juhi and Divya Gupta were rounded up along with restaurant manager Anil Poojary and band-in-charge Lokesh Kumar.
According o the police, the restaurant that has been running a live band clandestinely for some time, brought the girls from Mumbai. The artistes were provided accommodation with salary and a performance-based commission.
"We have booked a case against the coastal pavilion under the KP Act. We have sealed the restaurant and written to the excise department, asking them to cancel the license for violating the rules," Nagraj said.
