Rohtash Singh, 47, came to Kanjhawala police station for his morning shift and shot himself on the building's terrace a few minutes later. He was brought dead to the hospital. The relatives of Rohtash said that there were no reasons for him to commit suicide, except that he was getting transferred frequently. Singh was a retired Air force employee and had joined Delhi police a few years ago. He hails from Haryana.

"There were no family disputes or any other problems in the life of Rohtash. He was in extreme depression because he was getting transferred frequently. He was posted at the airport previously," said Rampal Singh, a relative of the deceased.

While top police officials remained silent on the issue, they denied the allegation on frequent transfers.
"Prima facie we can't see any departmental foul play in the case. We will be able to comment on the case only after further investigations," said a police officer.

Rohtash remained on his daily routine before the incident. He had a cup of tea in front of the police station and later went to the roof-top and shot himself.

"He paid a visit to our shop every morning from the day he was posted here. Today also he came and had a cup of tea. Then he went to the police station and after a few minutes I heard a gunshot and suddenly we saw policemen running to the roof of the building. Then we came to know that Rohtash had committed suicide," said Raju, who owns a tea shop in front of Kanjhawala police station.

The tea vendor of the office saw the body first. Singh came to office on Tuesday and didn't return home. The reason behind the suicide is not yet clear.
