Shivaji Nagar police have registered a case against corporator Farida Ishtiyaq, her husband Ishtiyaq Ahmed and her brother-in-law Ashfaq Ahmed for allegedly threatening a guest house owner with dire consequences and pestering her to sell the property to Ashfaq.
Sadath Unnisa, owner of Baitulmaal Guest House in Shivaji Nagar, alleged that Farida along with Ishtiyaq and Ashfaq disconnected the sanitary connection of the guesthouse on March 26, in order to force her to sell the property.
Sadath Unnisa added that Ashfaq forcibly took her signature on a blank paper and prepared a sale deed. When she got to know about this, she approached the court and the case will come up for hearing on April 14.
When Ashfaq received summons to appear before the court, he along with Farida and Ishtiyaq disconnected the sanitary connection. This has caused hardship to the occupants of the building.
"Ashfaq threatened to kill me and my family if I refused to execute the sale deed," Sadath Unnisa alleged, adding that they warned of continued harassment through the BBMP till she agreed to their demand.
Refuting the allegation, Ishtiyaq told this reporter that Sadath Unnisa was a nuisance to the entire area and that the guest house is illegal.
The sanitary connection of the building has been dug up because it was illegal and was disturbing residents. We complained to the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Boardu00a0 and it was them who disconnected the line after inspection.
Also, Ishtiyaq alleged that the complainant herself has cheated many people in the area. "I was silent despite the fact that she is running illegal commercial activities in the cellar, which is meant for parking. Now I will inform the BBMP about these activities," he said.
Meanwhile, the Shivaji Nagar police have taken up a case under Section 427 (mischief causing damage) and 506 (criminal intimidation) against Farida, Ishtiyaq and Ashfaq.
