They sold an already mortgaged plot to a businesswoman

A couple has been arrested on Wednesday for allegedly selling an already mortgaged property to a businesswoman in Rohini area of Outer Delhi. A police officer said the accused couple, identified as Dheeraj and Indu Bazaz, lives in Tarun Enclave in Pitampura area of north-west Delhi.

Reportedly, they owned a 32-metre plot in Sector 7 of Rohini, which they mortgaged to a private bank. But then they sold it to a woman, following which they were arrested.

"Meenu Bansal, the complainant, lives in Rohini only. Bazaz lured Bansal into buying his plot without disclosing that he had already mortgaged that property in 2008 to Allahabad Bank," said the officer.

He further said in the meantime, a bank official approached Bansal and told her that the property was mortgaged. She contacted Bazaz, who could not give her any satisfactory answer. She then decided to approach the police and got an FIR registered under Section 120-B (hatching criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) against the couple at Rohini North police station.
