Court awards capital punishment to 10 in honour killing case

Capital punishment was today awarded to ten people by a local court for murdering three persons including a girl after she eloped from a village under Jalesar police station area in a 2008 honour killing case

Capital punishment was today awarded to ten people by a local court for murdering three persons including a girl after she eloped from a village under Jalesar police station area in a 2008 honour killing case.

Special Additional Judge (anti-dacoity) Rajendra Babu Sharma awarded capital punishment to Ramesh Pal, Surjan Singh, Ajay Prasad Singh, Sukhpal Singh, Tejpal, Rakesh, Ranbhir, Sanjay, Kayam Singh and Jaipal.

A fine of Rs 10,000 was also imposed by the court on each of the accused. The court also awarded one year imprisonment to a man, besides acquitting one person. Twelve persons were named as accused in the case.

In October 2008, Uday Pal had eloped with the daughter of convict Ramesh Pal. In November, Uday Pal, his brother Satya Bhan and Vidya were caught in Balu Khera village by Ramesh Pal.

They were severely beaten up before being brought to Tilkhasra village. The three including the girl were later shot dead.
