Dreaded underworld don Dawood Ibrahim has apparently been duped out of a whopping Rs 40 crore by one of his own men. According to a report by TOI, Khalique Ahmad, one of Dawood’s men in India, was assigned to pickup Rs 45 crore from a white-collar person in New Delhi.

Ahmad was supposed to transfer the amount through hawala channels and keep the remaining cash i.e. Rs 5 crore was Dawood's "transfer cost". But, after receiving the money he disappeared. Khalique Ahmad is currently believed to be hiding in Manipur.

Intelligence agencise stumbled upon this during tapped telephonic conversations between Khalique Ahmad and Jabir Moti, a Pakistani aide of Dawood Ibrahim. Moti accused Ahmad misappropriating Dawood's money, which the latter flatly denied blaming it over a mixup with the bank, where the money was to be deposited. He then went into hiding afterwards.

It also came to light that two of Dawood Ibrahim's agents were sent to from Delhi to Canada on November 26 last year to probe the apparent fraud.

In August, India had submitted a dossier with nine addresses as proof that Dawood Ibrahim was holed up in Pakistan; three were struck off in the UN list

Also last month, Dawood Ibrahim's nephew Alishah Parkar, tied the knot with the daughter of a Mumbai-based businessman in a traditional Muslim ceremony, with Mumbai police keeping an eye on the event.

In June, the village panchayat of Mumbke, Ratnagiri declared the home built by Dawood's father Ibrahim Kaskar as a dilapidated structure. It was his childhood home.

According to a TV report in May, Dawood Ibrahim is suffering from gangrene, and his legs may even have to be amputated. Doctors treating the gangster, his gangrene is at a highly advanced stage, and hence there is a great risk of him having to lose both his legs. On the contrary, Dawood's trusted aide Chhota Shakeel had told news agencies that the gangster is 'fit'.

Dawood Ibrahim is currently on the wanted list of Interpol for cheating, criminal conspiracy and running an organised crime syndicate. He was number three on the The World's 10 Most Wanted and became India's most wanted man along with Tiger Memon for allegedly organising and fining the 1993 Bombay bombings.
