Day after daughter's engagement, man shoots self in toilet

A Lokhandwala stockbroker shot himself with his licensed revolver at his residence around 10.30 am yesterday. According to cops, Rajinder Singh Sodhi (51), resident of Meghdoot Towers, killed himself in the toilet, as he was frustrated with his prolonged illness.

Tragic end: Cops say that Sodhi was found dead in the toilet of his first floor flat in Meghdoot Towers, Lokhandwala, Andheriu00a0

Sodhi was infected with meningitis and also had gangrene on his foot, because of which he was unable to move much. Sodhi’s family members told cops that he was bedridden since the past six months and was distressed with his illness.

Oshiwara police have registered a case of accidental death and are conducting further inquiries in to the matter. “We haven’t found any suicide note from the spot,” said Pratap Dighavkar, deputy commissioner of police (Zone IX).

Dighavkar further stated that on Tuesday Sodhi’s daughter was engaged and the house was brimming with guests when the tragic incident occurred. Sodhi was living with his wife, a son who is studying MBA, and a daughter. Oshiwara cops informed that since family members are in a state of shock, their statements will be recorded in a couple of days. u00a0
