BCM is a biannual two-week workshop that brings the world's best cinematographers to teach lighting and shooting techniques to the brightest students in the field.

"I am overjoyed that my film Gaarud was selected for this competition. I am looking forward to attend the 15-day workshop at Hungary," said Unni.

"I will get a chance to shoot a sequence with high-end equipment, under the guidance of world-famous cinematographers. There will also be sessions on modern techniques in cinematography and the underlying aesthetics," he added.

Elaborating on Gaarud, his ticket to the BCM, Unni said, "Gaarud is an off-beat movie about life inside a lodge in a small town. Basically, I worked on intuition whatever came to mind, I put it all into this film." Umesh Kulkarni has directed the 11-minute film.

So where does Unni see himself in the future? "Definitely Bollywood. And Malayalam movies too. I consider Santosh Sivan as my guru and I hope to work with him in the future," he said.
