Complainants claim that police are deliberately delaying investigations against the duo on their alleged hate speeches
Delhi police may take more time in the investigation of sedition charges against writer and activist Arundhati Roy and Hurriyat hawk SAS Geelani's alleged hate speech.
Sources confirmed that the cops are going to ask for more time from the court for probe of the case citing the voluminous speeches as the reason. But complainants are alleging that the police are deliberately delaying the matter.
"The cops have not even started the investigation. The first step of any investigation is the version of the complainant, but the cops didn't even bother to take statements of the complainants. None of the eyewitnesses have been questioned yet either.
Without the account of an eyewitness how can they investigate? We have given video proof of the speeches but it seems the cops are wasting the time of the court," said Vikas Padora, counsel of the complainants. Top cops refused to comment on the issue.

Arundhati Roy, SAS Geelani along with other separatists gathered at a conference in the LTG auditorium in Mandi House on October 21st last year. The conference was named Azaadi The Only Way, and was organised by the Kashmiri separatists. Roy and others allegedly made anti-India speeches at the meet. A brawl also took place at the conference. |
