Delhi gangrape: Accused wants to meet ailing mother

A fast-track Delhi court Monday asked police to file a reply on an application filed by Akshay Thakur, an accused in the Dec 16, 2012 gangrape, seeking 15 days' interim bail to meet his ailing mother.

Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna asked police to file a reply by Tuesday on Thakur's plea which said his mother was in a hospital in Aurangabad and he wanted to meet her.


The application of Thakur said he was the only bread earner in the family and there was no one else to look after his wife and minor kid. He assured the court that he will abide by its order.

Co-accused Mukesh's counsel filed an application seeking action against a police official, who deposed as witness in the court, saying he has recorded his false statement on oath.

The court asked police to file the reply Tuesday.

A 23-year-old woman was brutally tortured and gangraped in a moving bus Dec 16, 2012 by five men and a juvenile. The woman later died in Singapore hospital.

The juvenile is facing proceedings before a Juvenile Justice Board, while the other accused were put up for trial in the fast-track court. One of the five accused facing charges in the court is dead. u00a0
