Dengue is biting Delhi hard.
With the death of one more dengue patient, the toll of the mosquito-borne disease in the city has gone up to three.
The victim, 45-year-old Nishipal, resided at Karawal Nagar in east Delhi and had died on November 30.
According to Debashish Bhattacharya, the state nodal officer to monitor dengue, Nishipal was admitted to St Stephen's Hospital on November 21 and was diagnosed to be suffering from dengue. His death due to dengue was confirmed on Wednesday.
"Twelve fresh cases of dengue were reported in the capital today and the toll in Delhi is three," Bhattacharya said.
The health department said with the fresh cases, the tally of those affected by the disease has crossed the 1,100 mark.
However, there is good news as with the dip in temperature, the number of dengue cases has been declining.
The average daily figure ranged from seven to 13 in the last seven days compared to around 20 to 25 cases earlier.
Municipal Health Officer, MCD, NK Yadav, said, "As the temperature is dropping in the city, the number of cases is also decreasing. As the temperature is expected to drop further in the days to come, we are hopeful we will be able to be in control of the disease by middle of December."
