Acting on a complaint filed by a fashion designer, police have registered a non-cognisable offence against reality TV star Rakhi Sawant for allegedly abusing the designer during a telephone conversation yesterday.
Fashion designer, Pooja Shukla (31), had called Sawant and had insisted on an outstanding payment of Rs 1.2 lakh towards the 40 dresses that she had custom made for the actress three months ago.

Oshiwara police registered the complaint after Shukla approached them alleging that Sawant had verbally abused her. The designer told MiD DAY that Sawant had even threatened her when she called her regarding the unpaid bills.
According to Oshiwara police, the complainant is a resident of Deep Tower at Oshiwara Gardens, Lokhandwala, Andheri (W). In her complaint, Shukla claimed that she had been designing outfits for Sawant since the past two years. She further stated that three months ago, she had tailored 40 dresses for the actor, collectively costing Rs 1.2 lakh, which Sawant hadn’t paid for yet.
Cops said that when Shukla called Sawant to ask her for the payment, Sawant hurled obscenities at her. “At present we have registered a non-cognisable complaint under IPC Sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation),” said D Rupawate, senior inspector, Oshiwara police station.

When contacted Sawant said, “I had given an order for 22 dresses, which were not delivered on time. Due to this, I had to cancel two shows. I had also given her cheques. Shukla is tarnishing my name for publicity. I have already given her more than Rs 1 lakh.” She further said, “Shukla approached me while I was filming the movie Loot and asked me to provide her with some jobs. After feeling sympathetic, I agreed to let her design my dresses.”u00a0
