It was two unarmed policemen versus four armed criminals. And it was clearly in favour of the bad guys. Mahaveer Singh, 45, head constable and his associate Goverdhan, 40, went to arrest Narender, an accused in

a murder case and a proclaimed offender. But, the cops found company; Narender was not alone, he had three more accomplices. All the four were armed and the cops just had bamboo sticks.
Little did Mahaveer Singh, a head constable in Aman Vihar Police station know what was in store for him. Unaware about what was coming their way, Mahaveer and his associate Goverdhan went to Kanjawala village at 11:30 in the morning to arrest Narender.
As the two cops reached Kanjawala, they found Narender, but he was not alone. He was there with three of his accomplices. Both the policemen were not armed and prepared for a situation like this. Spotting the policemen, Narender's accomplice fired a volley of bullets on the policemen. A bullet hit and injured Mahaveer Singh in the leg. In the ensuing gunfire, Goverdhan fractured his right hand.
u00a0In the end, the accused and his gang managed to escape. Whereas Mahaveer and Goverdhan were rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. Mahaveer Singh has been admitted in ICU where as Goverdhan was discharged. Police have now launched a manhunt to nab Narender and his accomplices.
Narender is the main accused in a 2008 murder case and was involved in three robbery cases that took place in Paschim Vihar and Lajpat Nagar area.
