Neighbours break open door to find 20-year-old burnt to death. Family members were not at home when the incident happened
Frustrated and depressed after an amputated leg left him jobless and dependant on his family, a 20-year-old man killedhimself on Saturday morning by setting himself on fire. The Trombay police have registered a case of accidental death after Govind Chowdhary was found dead at his residence in Mankhurd’s Maharashtra Nagar. The victim was allegedly frustrated after losing his left leg in a train accident in 2010, after which he was rendered jobless.

According to the police, Chowdhary set himself on fire around 8 am on Saturday when his family members were not at home. The cops said his parents had left for their native village two days ago while his brother left for work in the morning, locking the door from outside, as Chowdhary couldn’t walk. An officer from Trombay police station said, “Primary reports suggests that he set himself on fire. Three years ago he hadlost his leg and since then he was sitting at home doing nothing.”
The incident came to light when other residents of the building noticed smoke coming out of the house and broke open the door. On entering the apartment, they saw the charred body. Chowdhary was rushed to the Rajawadi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.u00a0
