Two mild earthquakes, measuring 4.5 and 4.9 on the Richter scale, shook Gujarat and Maharashtra here Saturday, a top weather official said
An earthquake measuring 4.9 on Richter scale shook the western part of India around 11 am IST.
Another mild earthquake measuring 4.5 on Ritcher scale struck Bhuj in Kutch district of Gujarat at 8.53 am, said Director, Weather Forecasting, West, Rajeev Nair.
In the second, slightly stronger tremor, which struck Maharashtra, several parts of Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara, Pune and surroundings were shaken.
The epicentre of the second quake was felt in the Satara distrct of Western Maharashtra, the official confirmed.u00a0

"We are still awaiting details of the impact of these two tremors, but so far there are no reports of any human casualties or damage," said Nair.
