Eight people of a marriage party were killed and six critically injured when their vehicle rammed into a roadside tree in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district, police said Tuesday.

The accident took place at around midnight in Behlolpur area, about 250 km from Lucknow, when the jeep spun out of control.
"Six people died on the spot while two breathed their last on their way to hospital. Six people have suffered serious injuries. All of them are stated to be critical," police inspector S.N. Gupta told reporters.
According to police, those killed and injured were returning to their native Kathauli village after attending the marriage function at Maksoodpur village.
