The death of Std III student Akshay Mhetre (8) in the Camp Education Society school in Kondhwa yesterday has left many surprised. Akshay's father, Ganesh(40) said he received a call from the school at 11.55 am. He was told that his son was unconscious.
"He had no illness or complaints. He was alright when he went to school at 7.30 a.m., his friend told us he ate his tiffin at 9.30 am. Later, he vomited and his teacher made him sleep on the last bench. They informed us two and a half hours later," said Mhetre.
Blue lips
"They should have rushed him to the hospital next door after he fainted and his lips started getting blue. By the time my elder son reached to collect him, he was unresponsive," alleged Mhetre.
Meanwhile, school trustee Walchand Sancheti said that something could have happened to the student after he was taken from the school.
"He felt uneasy at 11.30 am. and we called his family. His father came and took him. Something must have happened on the way," Sancheti said. He refused to elaborate on the reason behind not calling an ambulance or a doctor.
