The Guide gives you the dope on the 57th Sawai Gandharva music festival

The Sawai Gandharva festival has been around for more than half a century and is organised in memory of the late Sawai Gandharwa, who taught Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Shrikant Deshpande, Executive Secretary of Arya Sangeet Prasarak Mandal (ASPM), and one of the organisers, has been a disciple of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and is the grandson of Sawai Gandharva.






Apart from the song and dance, there will also be an exhibition of rare photographs at the venue. They will also felicitate great artists such as noted vocalist Padma Talwalkar.

At: New English School Ramanbaug Ground.
From: January 7 to 10
Tickets: Rs 1,800 (seating on sofas), Rs 350 (baithak style), Rs 150 (for students) and Rs 100 (daily ticket). Available at Dinshaw Co in Laxmi Road, Behere Ambewale at Shaniwar Chowk.
