Dwarka school starts campaign to make students aware of rights that complement purchasing power
One can argue that ten and twelve-year-olds these days are full-fledged consumers themselves and often make more and better informed decisions than their parents. But they are, generally, spending someone else's money. And yet the initiative by Vandana International School, Dwarka appears sound.u00a0

The school has formally launched its consumer rights club, which would have 15-20 members comprising students from classes six to ten. In a programme organised on Monday, the school had class X children come up with power point presentations on consumer rights, which was presided over by the school principal, faculty members and representatives from Consumer Forum.
"We wanted social sciences to have a more practical application. So we came up with the idea to organise students in groups to go to malls, shops and departmental stores as customers and narrate first-hand information of the behaviour of people and ambience of the place," said Vandana Tandon, Principal, Vandana International School.u00a0u00a0u00a0
"This is a constructive idea. I appreciate the school's initiative. I think students should move in groups and have first-hand experience of the situation at stores," said Sunil Kumar, representative, Consumer Forum, Delhi government.u00a0
