"It is a matter of pride for me that one out of every ten soldiers of the Indian Army belongs to Haryana," he said in a statement here. Khattar said crores of rupees would be received by ex-servicemen under the OROP scheme which would be spent in Haryana in one way or another, leading to the strengthening of the economic condition of the state.
He urged the ex-servicemen, who had retired early or on medical grounds, to beware of "misleading information being spread by certain political parties about the OROP scheme". The matter had been hanging fire for the last 42 years but Prime Minister Narendra Modi had been working towards fulfilling his promise to resolve this issue since he came to power in May 2014.
