The first list for admission to junior college was out yesterday, setting the stage for the admission procedures to begin today. The list was released around 3 pm and authorities at colleges confirmed that classes will begin from August 18, after a long delay over the best-5 imbroglio.
"Admission procedures will be on till August 17, and from the next day we will start classes within Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad," said Fergusson College Principal Dr Ravindrasinh Pardeshi.
In spite of all the talk over SSC students benefiting because of theu00a0 best-5, a system introduced by the state that resulted in a court battle which ended with the Supreme Court asking the state to extend the facility to ICSE students as well, officials said only about 60 students have taken advantage of it.
Out of 287 applications for science, only 28 have been accepted. Only eight applications have been accepted out of 50 for commerce. And of the 168 applications for bifocal, only 26 have been accepted.
Around 365 ICSE students applied for admission to junior colleges in the city.
