The Canara Bank RMV extension branch has detected fake currency worth Rs 65, 000, according to R Venugopal, branch manager.

The Canara Bank RMV extension branch has detected fake currency worth Rs 65, 000, according to R Venugopal, branch manager.

When the bank staff was counting the cash received from various branches, they found 34 and 63 fake notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denominations respectively, said Venugopal.

He said that the bank receives cash from various other branches since RMV extension branch acts as the chest branch.

A complaint has been lodged with Sadashiva Nagar police in this regard.

Meanwhile, Reserve Bank of India has also filed a complaint with the Ulsoor Gate police stating that they found 164 fake notes worth Rs 50,400.

Assistant General Manager KC Behara said that the currency notes were received from various national banks.

These included State Bank of India, Vijaya Bank, Corporation, State Bank of India, Axes, Bank of India and ICICI banks.
