House Full director insists he's crossed the milestone though industry watchers say the film hasn't even completed 45 days in a single theatre

House Full, released in July and starring Diganth and Vishaka, was removed from Tribhuvan theatreu00a0 last week, before even completing 45 days.

But director Hemanth Hegde plans to celebrate its 50 days anyway. He will hold a press conference today to announce his plans of celebration and is expected to say his film will run for 100 days.

'Just a gimmick'

"It is a gimmick to attract producers for further ventures," said a source. "He will have mementos of the programme in his showcase which will help impress financiers."

But Hemanth has his defence ready. The film, he says, will complete 50 days today as it is running at a mini theatre, Kailash.

But observers in Gandhinagar insist that a film has to run in a single theatre for 50 days or 100 days before its makers announce the milestone.

"I know the convention," said Hemanth. "But the industry should allow young directors like me some margin. We have to do something to achieve something."

The director, who gave us Uuulala... five years back,u00a0 has no qualms in telling a lie to achieve that 'something'.
Where's Chaplin?

House Full had its share of controversy even while it was being shot. Hemanth Hegde hit the headlines when he said Hindu fundamentalists were opposing the installation of a statue of Charlie Chaplin at Maravanthe beach near Mangalore for the shooting. He had said the 62-foot statue would be installed permanently after the shoot, for tourists.

Controversy followed but it was later revealed that it was the coastal regulation zone (CRZ) guideline that had come in the way of the installation, not any Hindu organisations, as Hemanth had claimed.

Interestingly, there was not a single scene in the film that showed the Chaplin statue. Hemanth defended himself saying, "I had plans to show it in the film, but could not concentrate on sculpting it because of the controversy."

He said a concrete statue was under construction which he would install at Innovative Film City but it would take another six months.
