Unclaimed Maruti 800 was giving sleepless nights to Preet Vihar residents
A mysterious white Maruti 800 car ((DL-2C-K-6285) had been giving sleepless nights to the residents of Rajdhani Enclave at Preet Vihar in east Delhi since Friday. The cops had turned a deaf ear to the residents' complaints.
Finally, they contacted MiD DAY. Within hours of MiD DAY reporting the matter to Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Anand Mohan, the cops towed the car away. MiD DAY had, on July 13 reported that the unclaimed car was standing in the colony since Wednesday last week.
"We are glad police officials finally removed the car from the road in front of the housing society. We have heard from the police that the car was a stolen one. There could have been a bomb or a dead body inside it," said Dr Sudesh Ratan, a resident of the colony, who reported the matter to the police.
The police said they had not found anything suspicious inside the vehicle. "The car was registered in the name of a resident of IP Extension in east Delhi.u00a0 Our officials had visited the person but he had already sold it off to someone from Bhatinda in Punjab. We are coordinating with the local police there. Prima facie, it looks like a stolen car that was abandoned," said a senior police official, wishing anonymity.
