Those booked for attempt to murder, include two sons of former standing committee chairperson Baburao Chandere
Officials of the Chatuhshrungi police station booked five people, including two sons of former Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Standing Committee chairperson and corporator Baburao Chandere, for allegedly trying to kill a 26-year-old lawyer on Tuesday evening in front of a petrol pump on Baner Road.

The accused were identified as Samir Chandere, Kiran Chandere, Ganesh Ingawale, Manoj Ingawale and an unidentified person. All five are at large and police officials have launched a manhunt to nab them.
Ashish Tamhane, who was assaulted with hockey sticks and other weapons, was rushed to the nearby hospital where he is currently recuperating and is said to be out of danger.

PI Ajay Kadam of the Chaturshringi police station said, “Ashish was on his way home on his bike when he was knocked down by a car near a petrol pump on Baner Road on Tuesday evening. The moment Ashish fell off his motorcycle, the five accused emerged from the car and started assaulting him with hockey sticks.”
After assaulting the lawyer, the five fled the spot in the same car. It were a few onlookers who rushed Ashish to the hospital. “He sustained multiple injuries and fractures. He is recuperating and said to be out of danger,” Kadam said.
He said while the reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained, all the five accused were booked under Section 307 (attempt to kill) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Despite repeated attempts Baburao Chandere could not be reached for his comment.u00a0
