A beheaded woman, another found naked in a drain and a four-year-old fatally stabbed were three of the victims among the five people who were reported murdered from across the city on a bloody Wednesday.
On Wednesday night, an apparent robbery bid turned gory when a 57-year-old housewife was stabbed to death at her residence at Saini Enclave in east Delhi. The police said that the house was ransacked and are thus suspecting robbery. "The entry was friendly. Hence, robbery could be the motive behind the murder," said a police official.
The victim, Ravinder Kaur Gill, was alone at home at the time of the incident. Her husband Kuldeep Singh, who is an additional registrar at the Supreme Court, found her lying in a pool blood at their second-floor apartment. "The couple stayed alone in the house so we have not been able to ascertain if anything is missing or not. They had a domestic servant who usually leaves the house at 4.30 in the evening. We will be interrogating her to get some leads into the case," said a senior police official. The couple's two sons reside in Australia and have been informed about the incident.
Neighbours are shocked and say it is almost impossible for a robber to come and attack a family inside the society. "We have a gate outside our complex. There are security guards posted outside so the entry of a robber or a goon is almost impossible. But there is construction going on in some buildings. So this can be the work of some labourers or people who have an entry into our society," said Kamla Sahni, a neighbour.
On Wednesday afternoon, a woman was found beheaded and her four-year-old son fatally stabbed in the Kanjhavla area of Outer Delhi. "The woman had been beheaded while her son was brutally stabbed. There were wounds all over the bodies of the victims. We have sent both the bodies to the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for autopsy," said a senior police officer. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
On Wednesday evening, a 22-year-old woman was found dead in a drain near the Nirankari Colony in Adarsh Nagar, northwest Delhi. A group of boys who were playing in the area found the unidentified woman's naked body lying near a drain. The body has been sent to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital. A 40-year-old man, Rajesh Thakur, and a 30-year-old scrap dealer Nasir were also murdered on Wednesday. Thakur was found stabbed to death at Aman Vihar in Outer Delhi, while Nasir's family found his body on Wednesday morning at Ashok Vihar area of northwest Delhi.
