His parents say five-year-old Nikhil was a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar and wished of becoming a successful cricketer like his idol. His dreams ended with his life on March 28. While playing with his friends Nikhil got injured and was taken to a hospital in Rajeev Nagar area near Rohini. He died there after he was allegedly administered a wrong injection by the compounder.

According to the boy's family, Nikhil was taken to Sharma Hospital and Maternity centre in Rajeev Nagar where Dr Shishupal Sharma and the compounder gave him the injection and he died in a few minutes. "It was a minor cut on his elbow but he was in pain. So we took him to the hospital. Instead of giving any medicine, the doctor asked his compounder to administer an injection to my son. After receiving it, he started shivering," said Virendra Kumar, Nikhil's father. When Virendra realised that the condition of his son was getting worse, he ran to the doctor for help. The compounder then gave his son some medicine, but the boy died in few minutes.
"I ran to the doctor when my son started crying out loud as he could not bear the pain. The compounder came with me, and he applied some ointment on my son's stomach as his whole body was paining. After few minutes, foam came out of his mouth and I realised that he had died," added a tearful Virendra.
Virendra has also alleged that after he held the doctor responsible for his son's death, the guards and the other compounders threw him out of the hospital and tore off the prescription. "They threw me and my son's body out of the hospital and took the prescription and destroyed it. They asked me to take him to another hospital saying that it was not their responsibility," said Virendra. He has now approached Delhi Medical Council to take immediate action against the hospital and the doctor.
"Looking at the case, it seems that the doctor is a quack. We have issued a notice to the doctor and the hospital so that proper action can be taken against the culprits. We will check his degrees and if he indeed is a quack, then he will not be allowed to practice anymore," said Dr Anil Bansal, Chairman, Anti-Quackery Cell, Delhi Medical Council.
Meanwhile, the doctor has refuted all the allegations saying he was not present at the hospital that day. "The boy's father is lying. I was not there in the hospital at that time.u00a0 My duty was in the morning and till that time nothing had happened. This is all rubbish," said Dr Shishupal Sharma.
Doctor death
MiD DAY had reported on April 7 the death of an infant in north Delhi after he received an injection at a local clinic following complaints of a mouth ulcer. "Anuj was continuously crying and cribbing due to an ulcer in his mouth. As his pain increased, we decided to take him to Bhartiya Clinic at Daya Basti for treatment," said Nisha Saroj, Anuj's mother. "Unfortunately, the doctor was not present in the clinic at that time. A person named Sharad, who claimed to be the doctor's relative, said he too was a doctor. When we told him about Anuj's problem, he administered a couple of injections to him. Within a few minutes, our son died," said Mahinder. Realising that something was amiss, the couple rushed Anuj to a hospital. "We took him to Hindu Rao hospital thinking that there may be a chance to save his life, but it was useless," added Nisha. Since the day of the incident, both Sharad and the owner of the clinic Dr Kamla Prasad are absconding and the clinic is closed. Mahinder has now filed a complaint against the doctor with Delhi Medical Council (DMC).
