Nashik: Former Member of Parliament Uttam Nathuram Dhikale died at a private hospital on Tuesday afternoon following a heart attack, family sources said. He was 77.

Dhikale, a lawyer by training who was also an MLA, is survived by three sons and a daughter. Dhikale started his political career from Nashik, where he was elected as a member of the local Municipal Council and went on to become its President.
He contested Lok Sabha elections in 1999 on Shiv Sena ticket from Nashik constituency and got elected. In 2009, Dhikale fought Assembly elections as Maharashtra Navnirman Sena candidate and won from Nashik-East segment.
