No conversation about American music and cinema would be complete without a mention of the legendary Frank Sinatra.
No conversation about American music and cinema would be complete without a mention of the legendary Frank Sinatra.
From his beginning days as a lead singer of a quartet during the Great Depression, to a heartthrob during World War II, he was the original American crooner and pop idol.
And here's your chance to get to know the man a little better.
As part of their initiative to spread awareness about the different aspects of American culture, The American Centre has organised a discussion on Frank Sinatra: The Man, the Music, the Legend, which will be led by Sandya Das, Vice Consul, US Consulate General, Mumbai.
"I plan to focus on how Sinatra's wide appeal was largely due to American social attitudes towards class in the 1940s and 1950s.
Throughout the 1950s, Frank Sinatra chose film roles that allowed him to portray a working class, hard working, dignified character constantly challenging middle class norms of respectable behaviour," said Sandya.
