Vijay Kapur, a resident of Rohini, had to pick up a few passengers from the airport but his Tavera vehicle didn't have the commercial permit required to do so.
So, he borrowed the number plate (DL4cd3013) of another Tavera car owned by his friend Gurdip Singh, who too is a resident of Rohini.
Unfortunately, the original vehicle was already parked at the airport parking lot when Kapur tried to drive in.
The incident came to light when the police got a call from the parking lot that two Tavera cars with the same number plate had been spotted. "As a vehicle with the same registration number had already checked in, the parking lot's system showed an error. This alerted the computer operator and he called us," said a police official, adding that Kapur had borrowed the number plate just to avoid being penalised.
After the operator called up the police, Kapur was arrested with his car and even Singh was rounded up.
While Kapur is still in police custody and the police have registered a case against him, Singh has been allowed to walk free after he pleaded innocence.
