The wait ends. German Bakery will reopen on January 26. The popular joint, famous with the youth and foreigners in the city, was shut after a powerful blast destroyed it on February 13 last year, killing 15 and injuring many.

The renovation of the bakery is in the last stages except for the interiors and furniture.

"We are planning to reopen on that day. The interiors are unfinished, new furniture is yet to be delivered including the cash counter. Some work is yet to be done on the walls, the stairs and entrance," said Smita Kharose, owner of German Bakery. "The work will be completed in next two weeks. The interiors will be kept minimal and non-fancy. We have also kept some space for the staff and the manager to stay in the bakery itself."

Kharose said that everybody would be informed and invited for the inauguration formally. The news has created a sense of anticipation among those who live in and around Koregaon Park and visited the caf ufffd regularly.

Shoubhik Bhattacharya, who works in Mumbai but visits Pune every weekend, said, "I do not want anything new in the caf ufffd. The owners need to concentrate on space and security. I liked their fruit bowl, pineapple tart, cheese omelette and papaya milk shake. I hope they maintain the old flavour."

Pooja Shinde, a model and frequent visitor to the eatery before the blast, said, "I liked the caf ufffd because they served healthy food. I used to love the low fat items especially the bread.u00a0 I hope they retain their original taste. The interiors don't really matter. Only the food does."u00a0
