After suffering dog bite buffalo goes berserk, injures two people and destroys Ganpati pandal

The animal created havoc in the society as it rammed into vehicles parked in the premises, destroyed a Ganpati pandal and even injured two people by dragging them around.

Labourers from the PMC cattle pound caught the buffalo with the help of au00a0 knotted rope after chasing the animal for half an hour. They took the buffalo to the Paud road cattle pound at 11.45 pm in a cattle van.
The buffalo injured an electrician Deepak Paul and a car driver.

"Fortunately, there were superficial injuries to the two people who were hit by the buffalo," said Arjun Parab, secretary of Solas Park Ganpati Mandal.
There was an estimated damage of Rs 10,000 to the pandal and an electric pole that was uprooted by the animal, he informed.u00a0
The buffalo was caught by Sunil Sonawane, chief labourer from cattle pound of PMC, and eight others under the guidance of chief inspector Vijay Kodre.Sonawane said the buffalo went berserk as it had suffered a dogu00a0 bite on one of its legs.
"It is sad that the animal went mad in the monsoon when they mostly sustain dog bite injuries. It is tragic
that these animals do not live after consuming water," he said.
Around five such incidents have taken place in the past three months in the city and suburban areas, said Sonawane.u00a0
Kodre informed that the cattle owners often ignore dog bites to the animals, else they can be saved.
