New Delhi: After the concert of Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali was called off in Mumbai following threats from the Shiv Sena, Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra on Thursday said that the concert can take place in the national capital as it will be well received by the people here.

“We can have the concert in Delhi. I am sure it will be well received,” Kapil Mishra told ANI.

“Music and art has no boundary, I feel that the freedom of people is being restricted a lot,” he added.

Earlier, Ghulam Ali said that this he was upset with the way things happened.

Sena activists yesterday threatened to launch a protest against the concert unless it was cancelled

“Forty years I have been into music, a musician belongs to everyone. This never happens, this should not happen I am upset that the people went through trouble, my fans went through trouble,” said Ghulam Ali.

Earlier, in a letter to the management of the Shanmughananda Hall, Shiv Sena's film wing "Chitrapat Sena" said if it went ahead with the programme featuring the artist from Pakistan they will have to face the "anger of Shiv Sena and the patriotic people.

However, the show was cancelled after the organiser of the concert, Randhir Roy, said that Ghulam Ali would not be coming for the event scheduled on October 9.
