Internet giant's word processing service bugged

After the online giant's email service Gmail crashed for hours because of a manual error, a new bug has attacked its word processing section, Google Doc.

Allegedly, the company's popular online word processing service, Google Doc, was hit by a security bug that let private documents of users to be shared with unauthorised netizens. This was caused by a flaw in the system, which caused the documents to be made accessible to users who were not supposed to see them. The flaw has now been fixed, according to Google.

In a blog post detailing the issue, a company spokesperson said, "We have identified and fixed a bug where a very small percentage of users shared some of their documents inadvertently. The inadvertent sharing was limited to people with whom the document owner, or a collaborator with sharing rights, had previously shared a document."

Google then unshared those documents automatically and "emailed the document owners to point them to their affected documents in case they need to re-share them." The good thing about the flaw was that it did not affect other products of Google Doc like spreadsheets . The bug affected only 0.5 per cent of Google Doc users and required users to perform a certain set of actions to activate the bug.
