Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today approved an ordinance for adopting the Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act in the state, Health minister Anil Vij said. Initially, it will cover private hospitals having more than 50 beds, he said.

Vij said the Act is being implemented to ensure minimum standards of the facilities and services so that people in the state can get quality healthcare. He said notification for the same would soon be issued and after that, it would be applicable in the entire state.

Earlier, 16 states in the country had adopted this Act, he said. "Clinical establishments with less than 50 beds were given exemption so that small hospitals do not face any trouble," he said.

"After its implementation, any private hospital would not function arbitrarily and show negligence in treatment," he said. Inspite of this, if any complaint is received, stern action would be taken against such hospitals, he said.
