Seven long lost college friends met after a decade in a social gathering and joined hands to start a film production company

Though it may sound like the story of a television serial but it's true. A bunch of college buddies who lost touch after they passed out college met in a wedding ceremony after a gap of 10 years.

Then, the seven friends who used to hangout and watch movies together decided to join hands and start a film production company.



And after several brain storming sessions, the group (an alumuni of city's BMC College) started the Mango Studios and have co-produced two Marathi films titled Ghaat Pratighaat and Most Wanted.

Vishal Chordia, who heads the groups along with his six partners Rupesh Kothari, Siddharth, Dr Rahul Bagrecha, Sunil Mittal and Chirag Dedia, said, "We wanted to channelise our creative instincts in not only making films but also by promoting new talent."

Speaking about their decision to start this venture, Chordia said, "It wasn't a hasty decision as we had given it a lot of thought.

Also, we have learned the tricks of the trade which gave us the idea of co-producing films initially rather than trying our hands on full-fledged production."

Chordia added that now they are fully aware of the technicalities involved inu00a0 film-business. "Now that we know about film-making and its marketing and distribution, we intend to produce a Hindi feature film in the future," he said.

Stating that Mango Studios will start full-fledged film production by 2010, Chordia said they intend to produce television serials, animation films, reality shows as well.

He added that the company is now coming up with a Marathi music album in which Shankar Mahadevan has rendered his voice.


On a roll

The first film that they have co-produced is Ghat Pratighat, which is based on traditional farming.

While their other project Most Wanted is an entertainer with a social message. The film has Ashok Saraf playing the central character and would be releasing soon.
