Illegal B'desh migrants held

The DJ Halli police have arrested a Bangladeshi family for entering the city illegally in search of employment.

Cops say, Rabimulla (22), his wife Muina (20) and their two-year-old daughter Meem, are part of a group of around 60 Bangladeshis, who are suspected to have spread across the city over the last two months.

The family was taken into custody when they were found loitering around Ambedkar Medical College a few days ago. On questioning, the two had no justifiable answers. After a search, the police found four passports on them.

After investigating their house, police found four visas, which have others' names. Those visas are also invalid. Police took the couple in their custody and are investigating their presence in city.

However, Rabimulla said that he had come to the city to get treatment for his asthmatic son, and will go back after that. He added that he had come to India in September 2010.

BV Pradeep, PI, D J Halli confirmed the arrest, "After investigation we will hand them over to Bangladesh Ambassador's office."

"They had come to the city two months ago and were unemployed.u00a0 However, the others might be already working at construction sites in the city. They stay at KG Halli and DJ Halli police station limits. Because it is difficult to differentiate them with other workers, and even the construction site contractors cannot be blamed. We have formed teams to track them down,'' said another official.

The accused were booked under Foreigner's Act and Indian Passport Act. They were remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
