Expelled BJP leader, Jaswant Singh was in the city to launch his book Jinnah: India-Partition Indepen-dence. His hands were full at the racecourse on Sunday attending the The Casino Royale Indian St Leger (Gr 1) race on the Royal Western India Turf Club's (RWITC) invitation.

Vivek Jain, the RWITC managing committee member, said, "We had invited Singh through some contacts. We had casual conversations and did no discuss politics or his book. He did mention that he loves racing."

Singh visited his close friend Mohan Dhariya, President, Vanarai, near Parvati Hill area. Dharia was his colleague in the Janta Party ministry formed after the Emergency in 1976. "It was indeed a great pleasure to meet Jaswant, my old pal," said Dharia. I read 600 pages of the book, and it is quiet interesting, he said.

Pune connection
"My book has an indirect association with Pune. Jinah represented Lokmanya Tilak in the famous historic Chirol case in 1918. I am not a historian but I want to put the historical facts before the younger generation and wanted to bring the Hindu and Muslims together once again by my writings," Singh said.
