Blockbuster director Prem is roping in Mumbai beauty for the sequel of his runaway hit Jogi
Mumbai actress Jennifer Kotwal will star in a sequel to Jogi, one of the biggest hits in Kannada cinema in recent years.
"Yes, I have received calls from the team and I am considering taking up the project, but I haven't signed any contract as yet," she told MiD DAY yesterday.
Jennifer was lauded for her role in Jogi, in which Ello jogappa ninnaramane, a song picturised on her, rocked the charts for several months.
Jogi 2 is in the news for all the right reasons, at least for now. While Prem's previous release, the Shivrajkumar starrer Raj the Showman, is seeing bad days, there's no saying the movie's performance might not pick up in time and save a lot of money and promises.
A conspiracy?
Prem has blamed Kiran Thottambilu, the overseas right's holder for the delayed overseas release of the most hyped Kannada film ever Raj, the Showman.
"It's not like we were short of buyers. Appu and I have many NRI friends who wanted to distribute Raj," Prem was quoted saying in an entertainment daily. Kiran however claims it has no takers.
Two-time sorry
The supposed conspiracy apart, Prem seems to be getting into loads of trouble with his past two releases.
Preethi Yeke Bhoomi Mellide bombed at the box office, even though it had stirred the media for months before its release.
Prem claims Raj has had already been watched by "31 lakh people". The future of Raj remains undecided, foreign releases aside.
Jen, the saviour?
Jogi 2 on the other hand has already garnered enough excitement.
Jennifer said, "They've told me they have created a character that resembles me in real life and that they will give me another song, like in the first movie, that is sure to bring out the Jogi heroine in me."
She was, however, cautious about saying anything more. "Everything can be confirmed after the first day of shooting of the film," she said.
