Four unidentified men with choppers intercept the duo and murder them in broad daylight and flee with Rs 15 lakh and some bars of gold
Two jewellers were brutally murdered and left in a pool of blood yesterday after four unidentified armed men killed them on the foot over bridge near the busy Malad railway station. The killers then decamped with Rs 15 lakh and some bars of gold that the jewellers were carrying with them.

According to the Malad police, the murder occurred at 5 pm when the victims Paras Parmar (48) and his employee Hemant Parmar were carrying gold and returning home when they were intercepted by the armed men. The cops said that the murdered duo used to get gold from Zaveri Bazaar in South Mumbai and sell it to other jewellery stores in Malad.
“The two, who were residents of Raheja township in Malad (East), had 11 kg of gold with them and after selling some of the gold to jewellers at Natraj market, had gone to a bank and withdrawn Rs 15 lakh. Following their routine, they took the foot over bridge when the two were brutally murdered,” said an official from Malad police station.
The two were rushed to Ashoka Hospital in Malad (East) but were pronounced dead on arrival. According to preliminary examinations, the two had received injuries to their stomach, neck and legs.

Cops added that the crime came to light after a brave autorickshaw driver came forward and told them of the incident. “After the four murdered the duo with choppers, they ordered a rickshaw driver to ferry them to Liberty Garden. The four then threatened the auto driver with his life. However, he bravely approached us and informed us of the murders,” said Ramrao Pawar, additional commissioner of police (North Region).
Investigating the murders, officials suspect that the goons were following the victims. “The killers might have planned to kill the two on the walkover bridge, as they could easily slip away in the crowds of Natraj market,” said Deputy Commissioner (Zone IX) Mahesh Patil, adding that they were suspecting that the killers had received information about a transaction through an insider. u00a0
