Three days after the festival of Diwali, all governors will come to the national Capital to participate in the Conference of Governors at Rashtrapati Bhavan. According to sources, President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil has nominated Andhra Governor ESL Narasimhan as Doyen of Governors to discharge the responsibilities and conduct the conference, starting from October 29.

President, vice-president, prime minister and almost all the Union cabinet ministers will participate in the conference, where they will discuss various issues, including agricultural production, terrorism, land reforms, women empowerment and nuclear safety.

Theatrics
According to sources, during the conference, Law minister Salman Khurshid's play, Sons of Babur, will be staged. Directed by Dr M Sayeed Alam, the play will feature Tom Alter, Niti Phool, Hareesh Chhabra, Anju Chhabra,Yashraj Malik, Ram N Diwakar, Manohar Pandey, Pradeep Singh, Ekant Kaul, Himnashu Srivastava, Punkaj Mutta, Mohammad, Pulkit Sharma, Puneet Sikka, Prakhar, Madeeha Sadaf and others. The play connects the present times to the Mughal era in India and is set in 1857, with Bahadur Shah Zafar as the protagonist.
The law minister will also present a special status paper on the role of judiciary before the governors.
According to sources, Narasimhan will get the opportunity to preside over the informal sessions of the conference. "Selection of Doyen of Governors is a process with proper guidelines. He should be the senior-most governor, and should have held two states during five years," said the source.
